...and if I might add... if anyone clicks on the avatar images in the Gallery... you'll be able to read the 'Description' and/or leave comments...

You can use the 'Description' box to give more info wrt your avatar...

So where do we actually vote - i don't see options to vote in the Gallery...?

Everybody that uploads their Avatar to the Gallery will automatically be entered into the weekly competition Showcase. (where voting will take place)

In the showcase as always Askic.
The only thing that has changed a bit is how Avatars get loaded

Will we still nominate and vote the way we used to, or will we be able to nominate/vote in the gallery itself?

Nominations in the Avatar section fall away, but voting is essential to pick the winner.

We will still need nominations for Topics though

...I'll give you a step by step tutorial on how to submit your avatar for the Avatar Competition.

First of all, you have to upload your avatar entry to the 'Avatar Gallery' - (Find the link in the menu - left side of the forum)

1. Create an 'Avatar Competition Folder' on your PC... where ever you want!

2. Save your avatar in the above folder. There are two ways you can choose an avatar... first of all you can upload an image to the Avatar Gallery which complies with the image size allowed by the Gallery (2500x2500 pixels or 50KB)... the Gallery will resize the image to an avatar size!

IF you are not familiar with resizing images do the following:

Here is an easy way to find avatars...(sample) go to 'Google Images'
  > type the theme you're looking for
  > and search for an avatar (images)...
  > you'll see a page filled with small images (THUMBNAILS)
  > right click on the THUMBNAIL
  > A pop up box will appear - save the picture (THUMBNAIL) to your the folder you created on your PC (do not click on the Google thumbnail image)
  > the THUMBNAIL will be the right size for your avatar when you saved it!

3. Go to the Avatar Gallery link - the Avatar Competition Category

4. Click the category link (Gallery Name)

5. A page will open with other avatar images (if other members have already uploaded theirs)

6. At the bottom of the page > Click Add a Picture

7. Type the theme in the 'Title' box
    > Choose the 'Category' which will be the 'Avatar Competition' - NOTE:    Make sure to choose the right category or otherwise your avatar will be added to a wrong category
    > Write about your avatar in the 'Discription' box (This is optional)
    > Leave the 'Keywords' box empty
    > Click the 'Browse' button and find your avatar in the Folder you created on your PC and upload the avatar...

If you have any questions, please ask...

We'll open a test category in the Gallery ... upload any image you like!
